Default Output devices not available?

I purchased and downloaded PT10 yesterday. I installed it at work to test it, as the Mac here is top notch; a quad core 2x2.4mhz with 80GB RAM. OSX 10.7.

There is currently no device installed for audio, I just want to test it using the Apple display speakers.

First, I had the "Line 1351 Error"so I pressed 'N'whiile opening and switched devices. It opens fine now.

But, the main outputs are all greyed out (unavailable) and no sound comes out, obviously. When I click on the output of an audio track, there are 8 analog outs, all greyed out, as if it still looks for an 8 channel device which isn't there.

How do I get playback from just the display? I've also tried the 'built-in output, same results; no sound and greyed out outputs.

Have you tried clicking "Default" in the I/O window?

And make sure that Core Audio is the selected audio engine. Inside a Pro Tools session>Setup>Hardware, or hold the N key while opening Pro Tools.
