That's a very interesting and important feature Marti

Personally we're waiting for the DAD SPQ card to become available for our AX32:
http://www.digitalaudio.dk/PRODUCTS/...s---Updates/88

As mentioned before here, the AX32 is a really powerful interface. We're running 3 ProTools systems on it connected via MADI and one direct, monitoring Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 in the studio and running Dante to a connected Home Theater where I can listen to Dolby Atmos/Auro3D/DTS:X/PToutput. All monitoring is controlled by an iPad connected via Eucon to the AX32. It takes a while to program everything but the possibilities are enormous.
We're just waiting for the SPQ to arrive (to take over speaker processing from the current Yamaha DME24) and for it to have some features like crossovering active LCR speakers.

Greetings,

Thierry

The Intonato or Yamaha are fixed systems that are pretty limited in their I/O and configuration. The Q-sys is a Linux-based system with tons of card slots and expansion chassis. There are infinite ways to create a GUI on iPad or several other touch screen devices. Total user programmability though their PC app.

If anyone is interested, QSC made a free online course to teach you how to program the Q-Sys. The first videos give you a general overview.

I am really liking the q-sys range.
Any ideas on prices for the Qsys core units? I’d like to know what they cost before I go to deep down this road. Where does one buy them?

I’m thinking the qsys core 110c might be right what I might need.

Default 7.1 Monitoring Controller & Beyond?

In LA call Gadget at Westlake. They are a QSC dealer.

A Q-Sys is going to cost more than other monitoring options, but you get what you pay for. It’s lot more than just a monitor controller. The 110c is a good box, but I went with the 250i because I needed card slots to add Dante. The 250 isn’t made anymore (still supported), but they still have the 500 and the new 510 model.

There's also a new box from Xilica coming:

https://www.audinate.com/products/da...sign-solaro-fr

I have the Neutrino which suits me well. 16 analog outs, AES plus Dante, fully open architecture, iPad remote freely programmable. Work well for me (not a mixing stage). No fans. (you can defeat).

Looking forward to the Solaro FR. It's expandable with cards.

Not sure about price but when I bought it ANYTHING with 16 speaker outs etc. was in the range of 10k (QSYS).

The Neutrino is about half that price...

How do you like the Xilica box? To be honest as nice as that qsys box is and as highly recommended as it is from Marti, it’s way overkill for me. The xilica seems much more streamlined, and simple.

If I might ask frank, what does a unit like your xilica box go for?

The 1616ND is between 4-4.5k€ last time I saw a list. I'm sure you can find a list with options online.

I really like the box. Back when I bought it it was the only option between the 5.1/7.1 "volume knobs" and the 10k$ boxes like QSYS/BSS etc.

Now there's the Intonato (well if you can get one) of course but it's not an open architecture box.

The Peavey NION system is also worth looking at if you are in the 10k$ range.

The Xilica is great for what I do. 16 outs to speakers is fine for me.

The hardware is not modular. But I'm not a mixing stage and I don't need massive scalability via card slots etc.

Downsides: Only 48k, 8xAES I/O.

I'd check out the Solaro FR as it's modular. Heven't seen it yet but the info reads like it's an upgrade to the Neutrino...They were showing it at ISE, AFAIK.

Frank.

Peavey? I didn't know they were making that kind of stuff. Good for them. But that price tag is pretty steep for what you get.

Skywalker Sound (whole facility -- all rooms except maybe the scoring stage; but there's a good chance there too) has been running on the Peavey Nion system for a few years.
