don't ferget also,
waves will periodically do a promo;
sometimes 20% off,
or BOGO, etc.
which can then be further discounted by your dealer...

I think I'll run this last update and then just do the same as Southside and use them for as long as they work.

I also note they say their V11 plugs are not supported with their very own StudioRack plug.... although I do have it I think I've only used it a one or two tracks, be buggered if I remember which one lol
Did you check the box that says you will only be running it on one machine?? Otherwise get hold of Support, the cap is supposed to be $240 USD.... which works out to be $350 AUD. I know, because it's what I'm looking at having to pay too!!

Going to have to wait till after Christmas I think. It ,kind of works out, though, because I won't move to Catalina until about then. It's about the time most of the devs would be officially supporting it.

I wup again next year, but i dont need v11, cause i don´t usw waves plugins anymore...

Is there any plugin, which is usable... API is nice, SSL is not as good, as the PA Ones... L1-L3 is not as good as other Brickwall Limiters... Schöps Omni Channel is ok, but i use other alternatives everytime...
Abbyroad is meh, except the Vinyl... I have so many Waves plugins, but i don´t use them all... In the past, Waves was the "****"... And every plugin, i bought, was worth it. That was the time, where Waves had no 29 Deals and so on....
Today the situation is another... So many great plugins out there.... And lets face it... V11 brings only Catalina support and a new gui for the Ren Plugins... (still the good old Ren Plugins, but with new guis)...

My question in the forum is; How many of you all are using waves Plugins and which ones...

Only using 3 here that I haven't found streamlined replacements for:

Abbey Road Vinyl - For vinyl effects. Admittedly, there are several plugins out now that can do this kinda thing.

Enigma - For sound desecration and ambient trippiness. Great for when a band wants "something" but isn't sure what.

Torque - For drums that aren't in-tune with the rest of the song.

I've phased out several (F6 & Sibilance = DMG Multiplicity, for example).

When I am using my live rig (HD3) the ones I tend to use are:
- API2500 / L3LL / Dorrough Meter (master)
- SSL E-channel (drum kit tracks)
- Kramer PIE (lead voc)

On my native rig at home, other brand plugins.

At various points most of the Abbey Roads collection except for King's Microphones and Vinyl
Schoeps Omni on vi drum overheads
JJP 670
I do have others but they don't get all that much usage. What does get the lion's share of usage around here are Pa plugins like the SSL & Neve consoles, their bx-meter, the VS646 & Chandler GV19T on guitars, the Ampeg B15N and V4B on bass along with Bassdude. The other workhorse plugins are Fabfilter stuff.

Thanks all, so at last... There are only a view Waves Plugins, which are worth using...

I was always a fan of the Ren plugins and i used SSL and API in the past, but now i don´t use them anymore... The classic comps are obselete, cause now i use the Overloud ones or the black rooster ones. The fairchild or la2a and la3a are so much better from Overloud or BRA than the Waves ones.
In the Pultec realm i prefer Softube Classic Channel MK2 or Ruletec or BRA or Ik multimedia over Waves...

But there are some special Wave Plugins, which are really good... Metering or the Multiband comp...

Jfreak The golden age is over... It was a great time, when Waves released their plugins for TDM.... But today no aax dsp...:-(... I am a heavy MCDSP and PA User, cause the plugins are available as AAX DSP...
I am glad, that AAX DSP is still a good choice in the mix...(MCDsp, PA, old Softube plugins, Cranesong, MDWEQ and more)... but the golden Age for DSP Plugins is over... Wow it was so great to work with TDM...
Access Virus, TC Electronic, Lexiverb and more and more... The quality of the tdm plugins was so great. But today with up to 56 Core Xeon Setups, DSP is obsolete... I am still a happy HDX User...
But if you look at all the brands, who are porting the UA Plugins to native (Softube Curve Bender, PA Shadow Hiils...), then the future is clear... Native...

HDX is old now and UAD2 is old too... (old sharc Dsps and old TI Dsps).... We will see, if avid or ua will release new versions of their DSP Hardware...

The conclusion... Waves is not my first choice anymore for plugins...

I tend to agree that HDX is growing long in the tooth, although it still gives me all I ask for.

Whether or not Native is the whole future will probably hinge on what Avid chooses to offer as it's next flagship solution.

Well, one likely reason for the release is now Waves plugins are compatible with MacOS Catalina. Waves announced this as part of the v 11 release.
