Default My Mac Pro shuts down when I select "Restart"

Hi guys ,

Help Needed ; Before my last resort of flying from Indonesia to Singapore to get emergency service on my Mac Pro ...,

(FYI ; as my warranty period has expired, and there is no authorised Mac service centers in Bali , nor any latest Mac pro parts available in Indonesia ..., (this is why I'd have to fly to Singapore)

I thought id try you guys first (as all google search attempts have not answered my questions other than what ive tried below

Problem ; My Mac Pro is behaving slower than usual, and also sluggish , and when I try to select "Restart" from the top Apple icon , my Mac shuts down , but does not automatically re-boot back up again (as it should)

Note ; After this happens - I then I have to push the power button on the mac to re-commence the startup (boot) procedure ?

What Ive tried so far :

- Returned my Mac to factory ...., (1st logged out of everything app related) ...., then ....,

- Opened my Mac from its Recovery Drive , and commenced Macs re-instal OSX procedure.

- I performed a Complete erase of the Mackintosh HD ie; system drive (via Disk Utility as part of the re-install routine) ,

- Followed by a fresh - clean reinstall of Yosemite (via Macs Auto online wifi download).

- Ensured there is still lots of empty space left on my Mackintosh HD (ATM 40% full)

- Once the new OSX was installed .....,

- I disconnected all usual USB items before starting up the freshly installed Mac (to again see if they may have caused an issue)

- Then connected my mouse and keyboard and Raven Monitor ...., Things improved slightly but not fully as restart issue still persists

- performed a safe mode startup to see if that fixed anything.

Notes ; things have improved significantly since the clean OSX install, but its still far from the lightning fast instant responce machine it once was .

Other notes to consider ; my Lacie Little Big Disc (1TB PCie) stopped working before my repairs(above) , which I sent away as its still under warranty. Not sure if Macs sluggishness caused that to happen ?

Do you guys have any theories or suggestions on this ?
.., as ive worn out my fingers (and brain) from searching on google and you tube ?

My Mac specs are in my signature (see next post for system report) ..., thx guys, any thoughts you may have are appreciated

I am having a similar problem.

Hi Bookerv ... I will try this out this weekend , as I dont have a secondary monitor handy, and will have to access our TV set via my mac Pro's Hdmi port. I will comment on the outcome.

Have you tried removing the Raven also , and what Raven do you have ? mine is an MTi-1

It's actually not mine, but a friend is using it.
MTI-2.
Is the Raven your sole monitor?

Hi Bookerv12,
OK ... I tried using the TV, and not the Raven as my monitor as you suggested,
and ....., all my reported problems in this thread are still persisting ?

For me , at least that rules out the Raven as a problem causer..., but oh crap it's still looking like an expensive trip to Singapore

(and re; your earlier question - yes the Raven is my only monitor

Did you reset the smc?
You may also want to have the internal battery replaced as well.
