Default Pro Tools is unable to communicate with HUI - launchkey 49

hi there

i've searched the forums and tried to raise some help from novation but no luck for the following error message:
protools is unable to communicate with HUI. power-cycle HUI and check its connections. note if HUI is not in use, update the peripherals dialog to prevent future warnings
the launchkey 49 i have worked fine for a couple of sessions and then the above message started up (i've only recently started using it so am new to midi recording/set up which may well be playing a part in this problem). the novation site suggested automap which did stop the message but also killed off any midi controller functionality. the only thing still working was the keyboard. more googling turned up that launchkey is not supported so why suggest that as a cure? either way it's uninstalled now.

and because it is i'm now back to the above error; anyone have any ideas how i can cure the issue? it's doing my head in and judging by how many people i've found posting about the issue over a range of controllers it's not that uncommon. finding a solution and there must be one, is proving more tricky to find.

thank you

A

Hello Dandy Highburyman,

Can you confirm that you have these settings:
Setup> midi> setup> input devices: Both of these boxes should be checked
Launchkey, Launchkey InControl
Launchkey, Launchkey Midi

Setup> Peripherals> midi controllers
Type - HUI
Receive and Send - should have Launchkey, Launchkey InControl selected.

Also you may want to try a new configuration in Audio midi setup

I am having the same issue in Pro Tools 10, using Windows 8. Pro Tools is picking up nothing, even though MIDIOX shows the PC is getting the MIDI messages and it works fine in Ableton Lite.
