Default Pro Tools 11.3 Demo Question

I decided to try the demo assuming that if it would run without problems then I will buy the latest version.

Install went fine and I can listen to a pre recorded track.
Problem is when I open an audio track so I can record my guitar I get
"Cant arm track to record as there are no input or outputs assigned".

I have been re configuring the I/O settings all afternoon but I still
get the same message.

Any advice would be appreciated please.

My computer is windows7 Intel i5 with 8gig ram.
Interface is Focusrite Saffire Pro14.
Thanks

Isn't there an option in the I/O settings to restore to defaults? Perhaps you have something set up incorrectly.

You are correct and I have restored the defaults but I can
still not arm the track.

I am assuming you are an experienced PT user based on your join date, but have you assigned an input to the track in the mix window?

The last time I used PT was No8 when we needed to use specific
interfaces.
Unfortunately I have forgotten some things and need a refresh.
When you say assigned an input track in the mix window can you
be more specific please.
Thanks

As you can see from my signature information, I am still on a very old PT version, but I assume things like this haven't changed too much.

In the mix window, on each track above the pan left/right control is the "Audio Input Path selector" (the top box of the 3). Left click in the box and select "Interface" then select Mic/Line 1 or whatever the corresponding input on your interface is called.

Then in the box below that select the output you want to use. (I assume you already have this selected since you can hear a pre-recorded track).

Thanks for the reply.
I do know where you mean and no I didn't set it to mt interface so
that's probably where the fault is.

No I didn't set it up for the playback track that set itself up.

I'll try these suggestions tomorrow.
Thanks everyone.

That should fix it. On my version of PT if I set the input of a track to "No Input" and then try to record enable the track, I get the message "The track could not be record enabled because it doesn't have both an active input and output assigned".

Yes that's what I get.
I'll stop by tomorrow and let you know if it's fixed.
Thanks

The problem is now solved I needed to go into the I/O window and delete the settings then load the default.

Then in the track window on each track there is the option to select the I/O for the track.
When I selected the correct channel on my Focusrite it worked fine and I can now record.

When arming the track to record the volume of my guitar increases and it sounds like i'm playing in a bathroom or more likely a monitor button is on.
It's very annoying and I need to find out the cause.

Other than that I am very pleased with it.
