Proteus X2 or Emulator X2/3 on ProTools

I just made the switch to PT8 and really love the MIDI capabilities. Now the problems is that one of my most beloved VSTi's - Proteus X2 - is incompatible because there's no RTAS version. I contacted E-mu and they say that the Proteus X2 won't even work with a VST/RTAS wrapper.

Has anyone successfully used Proteus X2 or VX, or Emulator X2 or X3 with ProTools? If so, how did you do it?

Have you tried the stand alone version.

I can't use the standalone version because either it or PT will take over the sound card - whichever is launched first. I guess I could get a second soundcard, but that defeats the whole purpose of internal mixing.

I'm thinking maybe there's a ReWire solution? Does anyone know of anything that will make a VSTi be a ReWire client? E-mu did say that whatever Proteus X hooks into must be 100% VSTi compatible, which evidently is a problem with various RTAS to VST wrappers.
