Default Dear Digi, please give us a \'CANCEL\' button when reshuffling

12.30h, I am importing settings from an another session, resuffling-blabla starts,
ok time for coffee, phonecall etc., come back 20 min. later, auntie protoolia is still
reshuffling.... force quit is the only option to get outta here, as you all know.

often when I'm close to maxed out, I might try to squeeze one more plug in there,
if reshuffling starts, ok ok, I know its all sold out, so just let me cancel the process
instead of twiddling thumbs or force quitting.

this is accel3, os x.4.10., g5/dual 2ghz, 4gb ram.

thanx & best regards- ph!L

Also, the reshuffling process has now many times suddenly quit protools with 7.3.1cs5 and I'm sure it has never happened to me before and therefore I'm sure it's a PT bug even though it has always happened with trying to instantiate ReVibe plugin.

I agree completely. A dialog before a shuffle begins that says, Shuffle or do nothing.

Hi,

If you're waiting 20 minutes and getting quits when reshuffeling then there's something wrong with your system! probably a plugin out of date in your plugins folder is the most likely culprit!!!

Although reshuffle can be annoying, for me its only 2-3 minutes for a 3 accel maxxed-out session and i've never had a quit from a reshuffle.

I can't see the point of a cancel button!! why would you not want to continue with assigning the next stage of your mix or applying the next plugin? cancel would only leave your session standing still.

Re-shuffle is necessary to place the various plugins onto their most appropiate chips on the cards to enable more free chip space overall.

Pardon the semi-hijack, but the same thing applies when you move a region from a track with fully-automated plugs to a track where the same plugs aren't automated. PT throws up a prompt for every single parameter. In the case of, say, EQIII, that's a whole bunch of parameters and there's no way to back out of the process. An, "oh, never mind" button would be nice. So would an "automate all parameters upon instantiation" preference toggle.

Not really. I might decide to disable a plug-in I'm not really using, or choose a different plug-in that would share a chip rather than experience a long shuffle.

If you mean a hot key, sure that would be nice. But there is a preference for "Plug-in controls default to Auto-enabled" in the mixing preference pane.
