Default The Ol\' Region Bin Re-Shuffle

Yesterday I option-clicked to audition a file in the region bin and got a major re-shuffle. A bunch of plugs deactivated/reactivated. Fearful, I didn't save and closed the session to reboot hoping to chalk it up to an anomalous mystery. But it happenned again just the same after restarting. This time I went with it and option clicked after the reshuffle and heard the file. I did not notice any missing plugs. Subsequent option-clicks did not trigger any shuffles. It seems to happen the first time I audition a region per opened session. What's up with this? I'm afraid.

Here's a guess:

Open the session. Boot Allocator. Note the DSP allocations. Do your region bin audio preview and let the shuffle proceed. Re-check Allocator. I'm betting that the region bin preview needed a voice to use for playback and that the extra voice requirement pushed the Mixer over the edge into another DSP chip, thereby requiring the shuffle.

Just a guess.

Right. Auditioning from the region bin requires that a small mixer be built, routed to the main outputs (1-2). If necessary, this will trigger a DSP shuffle to find room for the new mixer. We could get around this by "saving" a small mixer just for auditioning, but this would mean using up DSP all the time(probably not a good solution). Thanks for the info.
