Pro Tools doesnt care what audio is actually in the waveform for each channel. It only has a specific order for the channels in 5.1, 7.1, etc. Therefore, if you want the layout to be different than what ProTools specifies then you need to order it manually on 8 mono tracks first. From top to bottom

Left
Center
Right
Lfe
Ls
Rs
LT
RT

Then take all of those clips in the mono tracks and drag them onto the 7.1 track in that order. Now, the audio will be in the correct order for delivery and export from ProTools.

You can then rename the file once exported.

Obviously, if you re-import this file into ProTools it will assume its the proper native track order and rename accordingly.

That's exactly what we did, individual tracks that we reorganized into a 7.1 track.
But when they received it, everything was disorganized.
For us, Pro Tools users, it works when re-import, but in their process, no.
No matter, with Quicktime, it did the job :), even if we spent more time...

If someone could write a script to automate this manipulation under QuickTime, it would be cool :) Yes, ok, I dream ...

Glad the Quicktime worked. There are many things the Netflix QC process needs improvement on. They “fail”a lot of things that aren’t actuall issues. Unless you tell them outright they will make you do it again which wastes a lot of time and resources.

I'm having the same issue. Please, can you share how it worked for you in Quicktime? How did you import in Quicktime the 5.1 and LT RT and then exported a .mov container? Thanks

It's not an easy way, but it works. Thanks god we don't have to do that too often (ok, we had to do that just one time!)

Be aware that it is in french, so you will have to play with google trad
