How to setup an end-of-song phaser effect?
I would like to apply a phase-shift effect at the end of a song that would be applied to all tracks. I am unfamiliar with aux. tracks.
Can anyone give me some step-by-step instructions? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Thanks Phil!
1. Aux 1/2 were not available on each track as a bus. 2. What do I set for input and output on the auxiliary return track? 3. How do I turn up the bus sends for each track? Thanks! |

Re: How to setup an end-of-song phaser effect?
I figured out the bus/send process. The only problem is that when I increase the volume on the aux. track it not only adds the effect but also increases the overall volume and seems to add distortion to the mix.
When I add the effect to the master fader only it sounds so much better, but I cannot automate it to turn on and off when I want the effect to be added. |

I figured out a better way - automate the bypass on the effect used on the master fader. I didn't know you could automate plug-ins - how cool!!!

That's the power of protools......
You can automate everything....i think even plugins on the masterfader. Make sure you hit the "auto" switch in the plugin to choose the parameters you want to automate.

Re: How to setup an end-of-song phaser effect?
Pretty simple actually.
Assign a bus to each track. I'd suggest Aux 1/2. You simply click on the bus assignment for each track (second group of buttons from the top on the channel strip) and select "bus" on the menu, then "Bus 1/2". Secondly, add a stereo aux return. Control/Shift/N. Select Stereo, then Aux Input. Now on that aux input, assign a phaser effect, just as you would insert a plug in / effect on any individual track. Then all you have to do is to turn up the bus sends for each individual track. Oh, don't forget to turn up your aux Input too, or you won't hear anything. You can automate your aux sends just like everything else. I'd suggest either muting them (with the fader levels preset) or just mute the aux input ("return") and unmute it when you want to hear the effect. Best of luck,
