I'm having issues with Sonoma. Audio dropouts galore.
There's a new microphone icon in the menubar. It blinks off/on with the dropouts. Same issue when running Logic Pro. It may be Soundsource related? I thought it might be related to Logitech options (which I uninstalled). Any other ideas?

Given the CoreAudio changes... interface and driver version? What happens when you test with the built in output? What does the interface vendor/community say about running in Sonoma?

I did the in-situ upgrade for updating libraries and just testing it out. So far so good. Time for a clean install when they release dot-one.

The dropouts occur during recording and/or input monitoring. Haven't tried with the built-in audio. I will.

I've got Pro Tools running on my test MBP 14" M1 Pro, Sonoma 14.0. No extensive testing but PT 2023.9 boots, loads all my normal plugins, and plays audio out the MBP speakers. So at the very least - NOT a disaster. That's as far as I had time to look at tonight.

Installed Sonoma update in a separate SSD in which I've a copy of my Ventura working system.

Launched a large session with a lot of 3 party plugins to test things out, and although it played fine with no audio related problems, the graphic performance was terrible, with meters becoming sluggish as hell as well as plugin interfaces.

It seems this problem arises with large sessions with a lot of plugins, since I've tested it with a small session and wasn't that bad, although I could tell there was a worst graphic performance comparing to the same session running in my Ventura System.

Both systems were running the latest PT 2023.9 in Apple Silicon mode.

I can confirm this observation. And a few others.

Back on Ventura, buttery.

As expected, but nice to see for oneself

Just discovered (told, actually, by Gruv over on gearspace.com) that this is the Contuinity Camera feature on the iPhone. I turned it off. Problem gone.

I am grateful for the helpful people on these forums.

Observations:

Plugin search is now broken, you have to click 'search' instead of just typing. Really annoying for workflow, also all custom shortcuts assigned from the keyboard pane in system prefs no longer work unless the menu they are accessing is already dropped down. Not sure if the two are related?

Other than that - Pro Tools takes a little longer to load sessions now, but once loaded it's really smooth. System notifications no longer seem to stop playback when popping up, which was my biggest reason to move up to Sonoma.

Also, Sonnox inflator crashed Pro Tools the first time I opened it, but weirdly seems ok now...

Tom
