Thumbs down Structure | Wonder if digi ever tried it's Browser

Hi,

with my update to PT LE MP TK 2 I got the Structure LE version. I decide to install it on my HD system. And check it out.

Besides it's crippled way of dealing with foreign file formats which are totally not working I could not help but wonder

Digi, have you ever actually tried working with Structure's file browser

I would rather load and save files on a Commodore 64 with a cassette player as storage than using Structure's browsing "capabilities".

I am truly overwhelmed by how bad and clumsy that is. Come one guys. You claim that Structure is the "future" of sampling. If that is a fact I am proud to be dwelling in the past

You can do better than that.

Did you see that episode of the Simpsons where Homer was sent back to school. One moment he was in class listening to the teacher and the next he was chasing a Squirrel around the playground, laughing like a child.

See, that's what I think happened with Stucture.
They were in the middle of coding it and the programers got bored and ran outside to chase a Squirrel.

Whoever was left in the room decided to release it.

Well I admit I've been working on this track way to long. Time for a break.

+1
I just got MPT2 this weekend. Opened up Structure LE for the first time to try out the free stuff from the AIR Users Blog. I had a Structure NFR last year but hardly ever opened it up.

First it takes ~40secs for the plug to show up, then at least another 40 for the browser to load (empty).
Many times when clicking between the various pages within structure it would be a looong wait before I saw something, sometimes with the plug disappearing until it loaded.
With no other tracks in the session!

I think I'll just have to add everything patch/sample in my computer to the favorites list so I never have to look at that browser again!

Yes. Structure is kind of a waste. I originally got it to take the load off of my external PC running giga but QUICKLY turned to Kontakt instead.

I do hope Digi will allow more foreign file imports and TOTALLY redesign the interface.

Perhaps having composers chime in on plugins of this type would be a good idea in the future?

And why can't we resize Transfusers window?

Transfuser's window can be resized actually. Unless you already knew that and it's still to large for your workspace.
Down the bottom of the window you will see three teeny dots. Just hover over there and your mouse pointer will change to a resize cursor. This also works in the bottom right hand corner.
You can also resize the instruments inside transfusers window by dragging on the grey area.

Whilst I did have quite a swipe at Structure let me balance my criticism by saying what a wonderful program Transfuser is.
It's as if someone looked at my workflow and said "ok this is what you need"

I love that plug.

Which leaves us with very little... what to use as softsampler in PT8 ?

Structure - buggy, can't properly transform EXS24 patches, terrible browser
MachFive2 - buggy, doesn't work under PT8 on Intel and Leopard. slow Motu updates (if any)
Kontakt - slightly buggy? Is this the 'best' option right now..?

I kind of liked EXS24 when still working in Logic. Very stable, no nonsense sampler.

Yes it's a dilemma. We finally have midi and notation in PT8 and we don't have a sampler to use.
Digi have said that they are working on a fix for the promised but not working import "feature" in Structure.

If I have a need for a sampler I put Kontakt 2 back in the plug folder. I get rid of it as soon as I can.
There is really no other choice apart from running another computer.

Seems like there's room for some new soft-sampler products...AudioEase, Soundtoys, Mr Massey... anyone!
