Default Plugin Presets Missing

I just noticed I have no plugin presets to choose from in my plugins. The only option is "<factory default>". Via the menu I can select the Root Settings Folder to the pluin presets, which are on the computer, but they don't show up in the plugin preset menu. Any ideas?

Try Load or Import then Save as a (user) preset.

Have you tried going to the "set root settings folder" option (from that same menu, under settings preferences) and resetting it? It should be set to Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-in Settings. Be sure it hasn't gotten changed to some other folder or to one of the sub folders. This is a global setting, so you should just choose Plug-in Settings.

Of course, that all assumes that you've checked that folder and verified that the settings you're looking for are actually present on the hard drive in that location.

I've run into this same problem on a PC after upgrading to Pro Tools 8. I changed the root settings folder and then set it back to point to Program Files -> Common Files -> Digidesign -> DAE -> Plug-in Settings and the issue was not resolved. I noticed that this folder contains folders for the bundled Pro Tools instruments so I'm wondering if something needs to be copied to this folder for my other instruments?
