Default Best External Hard Drive for use with M-box

I am a new M-box user. I have it connected to a Toshiba Laptop and things are working pretty well, but I am starting to run out of storage space and want to purchase an external hard drive.

Any suggestions as to what would be the best product to purchase (not super expensive)?

there are many Firewire drives on the market from reasonable to over the top expensive. the key is that it uses the Oxford 911 chipset and the drive is at least 7200rpm. Other than that, provided it uses a quality drive, there's not much difference.

FWIW, we use a Firedock system.

I have a Dell (Inspiron 4150) laptop I use with the MBox. I bought an OrangeMicro Cardbus firewire card, a regular old Western Digital 120GB/7200rpm/8MB cache hard drive, and a "no-name" firewire/USB 2.0 enclosure for the drive. I just dropped the drive into the chassis, and presto, cheap and effective portable hard drive, which I plug into the firewire card. Has worked just fine.

Can't recall the name of the enclosure, sorry - but it was not a brand you'd recognize. I imagine if you get a new enough product, it will work just fine - plenty quick for PTLE, and your audio isn't flowing over firewire with MBox anyway.

C.
