Import audio CD-Ptools=Crash
Hello, If I am working on either a new or existing session and attempting to Import audio off of a audio cd into ptools via (import audio from other movie function) I recieve an error stating that "protools hardware is unavailable or is in use by another application) there are no other applications open. The problem seems to happen if you have an existing audio cd in the drive then eject it and replace it with a new CD.
Once a new CD is placed in the drive and attempted to be imported the error message appears, ptools quits and system needs reboot for it to work properly. Steps to recreate this problem: 1: boot the computer with Cd in drive. 2: launch ptools 3: Choose a audio track from CD to be imported, (Using Mac built in IDE DVD-Ram drive) 4: specify where audio should be saved. 5: attempt to import. 6: import should be sucessfull. 7: now eject the CD, via the option in the Import from other movie dialogue box. 8: now reinsert the same CD. 9: try to select a track and import in audio. 10: Error should appear stating "Hardware is in use by other application" 11: seems to be related to ejecting and reinserting the CD. Could it be that the macintosh's internal CD/DVD drivers are attempting to auto play the CD while Ptools is active? I disabled the the DVD extensions and did not detect a diffrence. Any ideas? P.S this is not related to attempting to convert a quicktime file, I am attempting to pull audio from a audio cd into ptools. Via import audio from other movie. Mac os/9 (v.9.0.4) . PtoolsLE 5.0, G4/500MHZ, built in VD-RAM drive. |

Re: Import audio CD-Ptools=Crash
Check to make sure to disable the CD's Auto Play from the control strip.
1. Click on control strip 2. click on cd icon 3. deselect auto play 4. that should prevent the mac from taking over the cd functions and screwing up ptools. *PLEASE note in database or notes. |

Re: Import audio CD-Ptools=Crash
Wierd one, once CD autoplay and QuicktimeCD autoplay disabled, problem seems to go away although there is a new problem.
If you import audio from 3 cd's into a session, close session then reopen a diffrent session, a Mac dialogue box will ask for each of the three cd's as the session is loading! You must restart to get by this! 1. Import audio from other movie into session 2. repeat process, using diffrent cd's. 3. Close session, 4. Open a totaly diffrent session 5. Now the mac dialogue box will appear saying "please insert disk 1" if you insert disk 1 then it says please insert disk 2. etc. etc. Wierd issue. Please reply. <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif">quote:<HR>Originally posted by Einstein: Check to make sure to disable the CD's Auto Play from the control strip. 1.
