Talking I'm completely lost.

I bought the M-box 2 Mini with a copy of Protools LE 8. I had to wait for a new computer, which I must admit is not the best computer available. The problems seems to be that the new computer runs off of Windows 7. At first the installation crashed the computer. Finally I managed to get Protools installed, but it won't let me do anything. The update says there isn't a valid copy of Protools on my computer. I couldn't even find the proper numbers to get my copy registered. Can someone tell me what I need to get this thing working.

Do you have a Registration Card that came with the hardware? What type of computer? And along with Pro Tools 8 full installer you should download a copy of Pro Tools 8.0.5 Updater.

I bought it used, and honestly didn't find a registration card. What would it look like? It's a Dell Inspiron. Also, I did download the update. It won't accept the installed protools as valid. I'm guessing it not be registered has a lot to do with that.

Do you have a Pro Tools 8 Serial Number? And you need to be more specific with what type of Dell Inspiron that is, the more information the better.

if the serial number begins with DIGI something then yes. It's the only one I could find. The computer is a Dell Inspiron 17 with a 2.3Ghz processor and 6 GB RAM. I'm now beginning to think I should have went for a MAC.

I use MBox 2 MINI with PT 8 on a Dell (not the inspiron) and Win 7 with no real problems. But you definitely want to optimize the computer per the recommendations at Avid.

I'll try that out thank you. Do I have to register protools online to use it?

Alright I followed the instructions on that page and it's still not working properly. The update keeps saying I don't have a valid Protools installation. Also I can choose to start a new session, but when I click the save button nothing happens.

Have you transferred ownership of the hardware? Once done, ring Avid Support, it sounds like you have an authorization problem.
