Default Stuttery quicktime

Im getting stuttering playback on a particular set of quicktimes in protools and outside of pro tools. Its fine on other machines and ive never had a problem before with quicktimes. Could it be a codec thing and where would i get any ? The quicktimes are from an avid. Any ideas? And where can i get any recent codecs i dont have?

I'm on a OS X 10.7.4. 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core Xeon with 8 GB ram. No idea what the other machines were I'm afraid.
The pictures are Photo JPEG 1920 x 1080. WHen I convert in Quicktime to 720, I still get the same thing?

Try running Quartz Debug and Disabling Beam Sync when you plan back these files. This has worked for me in the past with HD video files.

I would try re-exporting the movies in Quicktime Pro to DV25 or maybe Motion JPEG.

If it is already DV25 you may have to alter a parameter in order to get it to re-export.

Interesting, I do this all the time and haven't seen any issues. What is getting messed up?
