Default Norah Jones CD: Come away with me

Geez guys,

I've just listened to a (relatively) new artist called Norah Jones; what a wonderfully mixed CD! Does anybody have more info on this project (was it mixed with PT, which outboard, which mics, etc. etc.)? I'm dying to get more details! I'm gonna put this one on my reference list immediately!

Norah Jones: Come away with me (Blue Note)

Cheers!

Excellent album indeed. The "Less is More" concept is certainly given a boost in credibility with this release.

I love how the space between the instruments acts like the "glue" holding the whole mix together.

Quite an acheivement IMHO.

I read in one of those mix type mags it was all done live to tape with very few overdubs. No mention of PT - but what else is new.

Just picked it up. Beautifully done. So warm on the vocals but still retaining her nuanced "breathiness". Great performances as well.

Is a great recording of a wonderful singer! Puts Diana Krall in perspective. In fact I was looking for her new cd and found the Jones treat. That is a sound we should be able to get from a DAW. Maybe someday.

If you're interested here's what I found in Oct 02 issue of Pro Audio Review about this album.

CONSOLE: Home-made, custom-designed known as the "Acoutilog"

RECORDER: Studer 820

MONITORS: 1031, NS-10

MICS: Vocals - M49, Piano- B&K 4011, Acoustic Bass - RCA 44 & U47, Acoustic Guit - KM84, OH's U47, Snare - SM57, Kick - AKG D112, Toms - Senn 421, Ambient Mic - B&K.

PRES: Neve and Manley

PROCESSORS: LA2A, Neve comps, Lexi 480

All 13 tunes were recorded live in 2 days at Sorcerer Sound in NY engineered by Jay Newland, produced by jay and norah and Arif Mardin.

Harmony vocals and second acoustic guitar were the only overdubs.

Just figured with the massive Grammy wins Norah received last night this thread was worth revisiting.
