How to turn off input monitoring?

Hi guys!

I just recently updated to PT 2018. I use a UAD interface so I monitor all of my input signals directly from the UAD console. Prior to this update I could record enable a track in PT and when I recorded I wouldn't hear any monitoring from PT, only the UAD console. If I wanted to monitor out of PT, I would press the input button on the individual track.

After updating, the monitoring is always on in PT while recording even without the input button pressed. This means that the only way to hear just the UAD console is to mute the track within PT but obviously that means that punching in becomes an issue. What might have changed with the update to cause this? Any suggestions on how to turn off input monitoring while recording?

I also use UAD. Nothing has changed from PT 12. For me, there are two solutions to this:

1. Turn on LLM in PT. However, if you need to make headphone mixes in PT, you won't hear anything in the cans with LLM on, so you need to use the next approach.

2. Untick the option for "Link Playback and Record Faders." Record arm all your tracks. The faders will turn red. Slide them all down to -inf. This is my preferred approach.

Check your preferences>Operation to see if PEC/Direct Style Input Monitoring is checked. (it shouldn't be by default)
