Default De Essers?

Hi, I was just wondering what the De Esser plug-in is for. Does it take the hissing sound out of vocal audio tracks. Any help appreciated. THX.

A De-esser reduces the hissing in "s" "sh" and "t" sounds in a vocal track by dynamicaly suppressing certain frequencies, (4-9 KHz). It's a vital tool when mixing vocals, but the Digirack De-esser is not so good. Try out Spitfish instead, it's free and pretty okay.
