Default Re: Waves V-Comp on sale today for only $29

Okay, so the V-Comp may not be on sale any more. Must have been a weekend 24hr sale.

For anyone still interested I noticed the V-Series on sale for a good price also.

Guys... I'm not saying those vintage Waves plugins are bad, but... a lot of it comes from the "analog" button that adds top end hiss and once you turn it off much of the excitement is gone too. Good for you if you like that hiss, but I don't, and my point here is that you need to be careful when you listen to different basic plugins such s compressors or equalizers. Initial excitement might not last long.

I passed also on this sale

I guess the question has finally been answered "you can have enough compressors"

I have waaaay too many compressors, but I still find use for the V-Comp regularly.

Default Waves V-Comp on sale today for only $29

Maybe I should have demo'd it - sad music plays outro (uncompressed. Obviously)

TOM, what are your favorite uses of V-Comp...

I find myself often using it for some character in mastering
I'm also fond of it on Bass

Yeah, I've heard a number or people with that problem. Pity the emulations can't decouple the hum from the noise, at least the DBX has a level control for it now, so they must be listening to something.

Let's hope in the future we see their other emulations with the same feature. Still it's not the same as having independant controls like in NLS.

I guess where Waves is coming from is that is the noise that contributes to som e of that magic. I mean, hundreds or records were recorded with low level his and hum in circuit and you never hear anyone complaint about that. It's only when they try to reproduce the noise for that added magic does it become an issue with people.

I wonder why that would be??

Personally I think the emulations are great, I just don't switch on every "Analogue" circuit in my mix!!
