Default Cloning my disk with "Disk utility" good choise?

Hi!
I have not done this yet with a mac, so I wonder if it will do the trick if I want to restore my whole drive if installing PT9 will fail or mess up something.
I have backups with time machine, but don't know if it is enough for restoring a whole system.
Thank's!

I'd use a free program called carbon copy cloner for that short of backing up. It's simple and highly effective.

Use the free Carbon Copy Cloner app.

I would actually suggest using Disk Utility...I've been a computer tech for a couple years professionally now, and honestly, I've had problems with Carbon Copy Cloner, crashing and freezing when it gets to the "sleep image" file. Disk Utility has never given me any problems, and I've been using it whenever I need to clone a mac drive.

I always use Disk Utility to back up to a totally separate disk, and just swap drives if I ever have a problem.

On any of my Macs, Disk Utility has always worked without fail.

Disk utility has known issues that make it unreliable. Stick with one of the third party apps.
