Default Uninstall Pro Tools LE

A while back my Pro Tools LE v7.4 stopped loading, caused the computer to freeze. After much frustration I thought that maybe I should unistall it and then reinstall it. So now It won't uninstall, it hangs and it also hangs when trying to load so I am caught in a holding pattern. Anyone have any tips on unistalling then reinstalling?

Thanks

What OS, and how are you trying to uninstall? Through Add/Remove Programs (XP) or Programs and Feature (Vista, 7)?

You could just delete any folder having to do with Digidesign, then run Ccleaner to get rid of all the reg entries. Then go back to Add/Remove Programs and just delete PT7 from the list. But thats last resort. And for advanced users.

I am running Windows XP and using the Windows Uninstall. I will scour the computer for anything Digi then erase it and Google Cleaner.
Thanks

Unhappy Re: Uninstall Pro Tools LE

Thanks, The uninstaller worked great. I started reinstalling, everything was going great, about halfway through the install disc started revving quite high then at about 95% completed it stopped spinning and just hung, so close and yet so far. I have tried this a couple of times now with the same frustrating result, also double checked the Windows Optimum Configuration settings. Thanks to all of you how have helped me so far, any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I believe XP Media Center Edition, per you sig, is not approved for PT. Why not go with XP Pro, which shouldnt be a big expense these days, and see if you have better luck.

Smile Re: Uninstall Pro Tools LE

Third time lucky! this time I pulled the ilok key(not sure if that makes any difference) made sure the Mbox USB was disconnected (this is requested) and went for the basic install, didn't both with the optional installed like the MP3 codec. Thanks again for all your help. Next step up grade to version 8

Cheers

Unhappy Re: Uninstall Pro Tools LE

Opps... I spoke too quickly. Yes I was able to successfully uninstall Pro tools and reinstall it again but the reason that I wanted to reinstall it in the first place was that the program had stopped loading, it would get about half way loaded and then just hang. I noticed today that the point at which it hangs is during the "plug-in Load" on the "Bomb Factory Essential Tuner.DPM". Is there a way to bypass this plugin to see if Pro Tools will then load?

If that was your end goal, there was no need to install 7.4. In fact, PT 8 will tell you to uninstall any previous version before installation.

Move both the .dpm and .rsr files from the Plug-Ins folder to the Plug-Ins (Unused) folder before opening PT.
Program Files>Common Files>Digidesign>DAE
