Default paid monthly -> pay once a year?

Since March 2023 I have paid PT updates and support montly.

Can I just pay a yearly fee for updates/support or is there anything else I should do?

I am on PT Studio.

You can now easily buy a perpetual license. Continue to pay an annual support/update fee after the first year. Or just let that lapse and pay the fee anytime you want to restart updates or use support.

Perpetual also means your license does not ever just expire leaving you high and dry in front of a client.

So, I can buy: "Avid Pro Tools | Studio 1-Year Software Updates + Support Plan RENEWAL For Perpetual, $199.00"

This is from a seller. PlugginDiccounts.

Nope you need to buy Pro Tools Studio perpetual first. Which will be ~US$600 and then if you want to renew your annual support/update plan after the first year you buy the thing you are taking about… or wait until you want to upgrade then buy it.

Do not buy anything for anybody but an Avid authorized reseller… and any reseller ought to have folks who can walk you through any questions. My go to would be Vintage King or Sweetwater in the USA or Thomann in Europe.

unless he was perpetual then moved to subscription? This is the unclear part or isn't explained well.
I know people who accidentally selected the wrong annual payment and went subscription and AVID wouldn't let them go back.

And they were offering a lot of deal to go sub and give up the perp.

That is where I need clarity. Though I only use perpetual.

Yes, great point. What are *all* the licenses you have?

My Avid account says:

"Use a Perpetual Upgrade to renew or get current and receive 1 year of product updates, support, Inner Circle rewards, Sonic Drop content, and more"

Thomann sells Perpetual UPG for 219 euros/dollars.

Right, you should see the following, that's the correct one.

Sorry for the earlier confusion, but I'm not sure why you ever ended up on a subscription, I would have hoped you could have found a software update/support reinstatement from resellers. But it's academic now and renewals and reinstatement are the same thing.
