Default 2023.9 can't give a name to a template session

Hi,

I just tried the new PT 2023.9. I opened a template session that I had. The 2023.9 crasches when I try to give the session a name.

It is a bug? Or it is just me?

does the path of where you try to save your new session affect things, or same crash ?
or is it as soon as you start typing ?

just tested here on a 2018 Mac Mini / Monterey. Creating a new session from a template (originally made in PT 22.something) and renaming it worked fine. Maybe a Windows-specific thing?

The path works fine. It is only when trying to name a template. I return to 2023.6 and it works ok.

Can someone try this on PC? Is it just me or a bug?

Can you describe how you’re going about opening the template?

Are you double clicking the template file or creating a new session from template in the Dashboard?

I am double clicking the template file. It went well. But when I try to name the session - PT2023.9 craches.

And does it work when you create a new session from the template in the dashboard or open from the file menu?

Not just you, it must be a bug, I've had exactly the same issue, had to stop using the template I made because Pro Tools crashed every time I started naming it

I just tried it here both Rosetta & Native. Works fine for me.
Do you have any peculiar characters either in the template name or the session ?

Try creating a new session from scratch. Configure some things. Save it as "Test Template".
Then try creating a new session from your new Test Template.
Does that work ?

This isn’t an issue with templates. It’s an issue when double clicking templates from the Finder or Windows Explorer.

If you open the template from the File menu or Create New Session from Template in the Dashboard then everything works fine.

Yes. This is a bug and it should be reported.
