Default Plugin Settings

Is it me or am I missing something here?

Since I'm on PT11 storage of my plugin settings are all over the place.
They used to be in Library/Aplication Support/Digidesign/Plug-In Settings

But since AAX is now the only plugin-format, we have an Library/Aplication Support/Avid folder where everything supposed to be.

But my storage of pluginsettings are still in the old Digidesign folder and now also in /User/documents/ProTools/PluginSettings.

Trying to move everything to one place is no go, since everytime I'll start protools, protools copies the settings back to the old folder Library/Aplication Support/Digidesign/Plug-In Settings ?

Whats up with this... now everytime I need a quick setting, I need to locate the right folder... really a pain in th @**

Any suggestions?

Johnny

You can set the default User Library in Setup->Preferences->Operation.
Personally I keep this off the system drive (on another drive) so that it won't get affected if I reinstall.

Yes thats right... but still protools keeps copying the settings files to library/aplication support/digidesign

Thats weird... I thought that folder would become absolete

I have noticed this too. I think it's default behaviour if no library is found.
However only the library folder set in preferences is updated (e.g when you make a new preset).

Default Re: Plugin Settings

The default in 11 is ~/Documents/Pro Tools/Plugin Settings.

Pro Tools does this for both plug-in settings and the documentation folder. If they are not where PT wants them to be, it copies them there at launch. Just leave them where they are, even if you reassign the location. The new location should work, but PT still checks for the factory default location even if it doesn't actively use it.

Wherever you locate the new folder, Pro Tools remakes the defaults there on start up. It's a royal PITA. I don't want to be scrolling through a load of default settings that I will never use to find the setting I want.
