Default Re: Synching RADAR to 002

Radar doesn't have plug-ins like AutoTune.. I could see wanting to move files between the 2 systems.. although Darwin or BWF is a good alternative.

Default Synching RADAR to 002

I've have been having problems synching my RADAR unit to the 002. When I sync with RCA/SPDIF and MTC from the RADAr to the 002, it works fine while recording, but when I play back with the RADAR and 002 "synched", it has a delay and the tracks aren't in snyc. Is this a common problem? What can be done to fix it? What other ways are good for synching RADAR to 002?

What are your clock settings in both the Radar and PT and how do you have it wired?

Some things to check out when syncing: offset in the start time of PT, correct sample rate, correct frame rate; if you sync the 002 to an external device, you have to know that PTLE doesn't have real "sync" capabilities: it gets a start triggering from an external device via MTC, but thenm frewheels from there and doesn't "chase" timecode; the Spdif clock can help to keep it in sync, but I know there's some issues, particulary with long files.

Hope this helps

RADAR is not a DAW, it is a stand-alone Hard disc recorder you use just like a tape machine. Try striping one track in Protools with SMPTE, output through an analog out to RADAR's SMPTE in.

I believe the issue is related to the fact that when he switches to getting audio via SPDIF from PT, the Radar then gets its clock via the SPDIF input... and PT is set to external clock... looking for a clock from the Radar.
