no diagonal straight lines in Automation

Hello. First, i am new to this Forum an also new to Pro Tools.

When i am drawing an automation the courser always forces me to draw horizontal or vertical lines.

It is mainly described in this post:

its supposed to look like this (The letters represent the points):

............B
BUT it looks like this:

....

I don't now if this is mandatory (so intended.) or my fault as an unexpected user.

Sounds like what you’re trying to automate may only have 2 absolute values (ie on / off) instead of allowing values In between. maybe you could draw the shape you want on another midi cc then assign that cc to the control you want automated within the plugin via midi learn (if possible).

Would help to know what you’re trying to automate though.

which parameter do you want to automate? MIDI, plugin parameter or mixer?

if its a MIDI parameter, draw with the pencil tool either with free hand or line. well, with any setting that fit your needs.

That's normal behavior when it comes to MIDI cc automation in Pro Tools, so you're doing nothing wrong.

But before considering it a fault compared to other DAWs (because Pro Tools sucks with MIDI as we all know ), draw your lines/curves regardless, LISTEN and see if there's really any issue...

What a nice community here! Appreciate that.

It seems like this is a normal behaviour for midi cc. I tried all of your tips. But it behaves the same. It not that much of an issue. I just was expecting doing things wrong. I am still very much in the process of learning ProTools cause i switched form an other DAW. (sooo there may be some questions following in the future ...)
