Default Bring back ProTools LITE/FREE!!!

I can't express in words how much easier my life would be if there was still a 'free' version of ProTools around for me to be able to utilize in my workflow.

I have great muso's from around the world banging away on my sessions and recording awesome midi data for me to import and link through my various sampling programs...it sounds brilliant and, as far as I can tell, is the way of the future (unfortunate in some respects but thats the way it's going guy's so get over it)...

ALL of the issues I've had have been between different DAW's and the way their session data treats audio and midi.

These muso's I get aren't engineers...they just need a simple 4 track and midi capable bulletproof DAW for easy tracking!!!

Using this method (for example):

Guide Track - drummers 'laptop studio: Recording TD20 onto REAPER (for example) - sending MIDI DATA back (via email) - importing back into ProTools

If I could get these guy's to grab a simple 4 track and MIDI rec capable ProTools Program (with maybe 4-5 simple plugins) my life would be beautiful with flowers and stuff....I can't be the only one!

Not only would people get a great introduction into AVID and get a handle on using the thing but it would eat into the sales of their competitors products as well...

Come on AVID!!!! Put it back on the market!!!!!

Methinks you need to get over your opinion of your own opinion.

midi recording is not the only way of the future. Its merely one aspect of recording music. Audio recording will never be second to midi recording.

midi recording will never become the way of all music recording. While its a method you use, there are masses who dont use your method. I rarely record midi at all. I work almost entirely in recorded audio and havent since Vision became Studiovision.

My 2 cents only, but; if you need Pro Tools, then buy it. If you need "cheap", then buy Reaper. Its a perfectly capable program and its dirt cheap. Matter of fact, maybe everyone in your circle of players should be on the same software to make sharing that much easier There is Pro Tools SE, but I know nothing about it other than its a stripped version that comes free with certain interfaces.

Hey Regenerationmix! I just read your comments and I'm embarrassed to confess that it took me a long time to realize that I don't really need midi at all! All the aggrevation and puzzling through redundant instruction manuals, not to mention waste of time on line videos, were just that. A waste of time! I'm an old timer with little time to waste and I can't really see having to totally relearn what and how I record. (Please, no derogatory comments from you youngsters. If midi works for you and your enjoying it, great!). Personally I would love to see a recording program dedicated to just audio. midi is not for everyone and I certainly hope it never replaces learning to actually play an instrument. I woild like to know more about Vision or studio vision if it is live tracking oriented. Thanks
