cpu usage maxing out even when idle
Hi,
I've recently bought M-Powered (academic). I am running it with my M-audio transit soundcard on my laptop (A IBM Thinkpad T41, 1.6 GHZ 512 meg ram. XP SP2. etc. In short, although not the latest a very capable machine. I am running the latest update (7.1.1). Even when there is no project loaded protools uses 99% of the cpu. I've tried increasing buffers etc but that didnt help. The whole system is working very slow. I would appreciate any tips on how to resolve this. Cheers Anton

Disable any speed stepping and/or power management features (in the BIOS, if you can).
