PTHD10 & OSX - hanging on import audio
Hi there,
I am working in OSX & PTHD10, and as the title of this post suggests, PT is hanging for 5-10 secs (showing the spinning ball) every time I import (copy to session) audio. These are tiny dialogue files that I am RX'ing in standalone and importing and exporting to desktop. Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening. cheers in advance |

Re: PTHD10 & OSX - hanging on import audio
Which version of HD10 is this?
How was the audio drive(s) formatted?

Re: PTHD10 & OSX - hanging on import audio
Hi there thanks for your reply..
I have recently upgraded to PTHD 10.3.8, on OSX 10.6.8 (I can't go any higher as I need to be able to access FCP server!) The audio drive is Mac OS Extended (journaled) and has plenty of free space, its an internal SATA GUID partitioned drive. cheers |

Have you tried Deleting Pro Tools Databases and Preferences?
Also, which file format and output options are you using during export from RX? I've done quite a bit of RX'ing on my iMac using only the system drive, and had no issues importing back into PT HD10/11.

Re: PTHD10 & OSX - hanging on import audio
thanks PT Lover. I tried deleting my prefererences etc and there is no difference. I've tried importing and exporting to the audio drive, and there is the same delay.
The files are the same format as the session (which by the way is hours of Norwegian VO's!). I am 'copying' to session rather than 'adding' to the session so that the sessions can be archived. hmmmm |

Hours of Norwegian VO's? Yikes!
Have you tried repairing disk permissions using Disk Utility? It's in the First Aid tab.

Re: PTHD10 & OSX - hanging on import audio
thanks PTLover, I will try that tonight. It seems that somewhere in the chain of 'copy to session' the process is getting delayed, so it may indeed be something to do with permissions. I'll report back if I succeed,
thanks again |
