Tony/Tom/Marianna/Bruce ....

As the posts in this thread are already proving, there are '101 questions' that have already been asked, and for which people are seeking answers.

All questions so far posted here by people have already been asked in the other relevant threads.

Do you really want this sticky to evolve into a thread to ask all those questions again?

I'm trying to decide whether to scream, or just to bang my head against the most solid wall I can find!

I don't wish, at all, to be impolite, but can I suggest someone gets a grip on this pronto.

@Tony Cariddi

Hey, nice to hear Avid at least reacted.
Although in the end it means that CPTK users have to pay more for updates from now on.
If you run a steady business that's ridiculous, but if you are a student, than it is an issue:

So my main question is (like asked many times before):
What about students/schools with CPTK?
Do they from know have to pay $599 every update,
although it was promised to get 4 years of updates for free?
(I haven't got one update so far!)

And even if you're not in the 4-year-update plan.
Do you really think the majority of students can (and will) afford $599 for every update.

"We have no plans to close off future versions of Pro Tools to work only with Avid hardware"
Ok thats true for us CPTK users but what about future users.
Just "vanilla" and HD that's not an option and will be a hard punch in the stomach for many one man post sound facilities and starting businesses, who need HD/CPTK features.

Please release PT HD software only, reasonable upgrade pricing and continue to support students.

@Emcha audio

Upgrade price with CPTK PT9-> PT10: $399
Upgrade price with CPTK PT10->PT11 HD SW only: $599
CPTK=HD SW only.
Again: Peanuts! But not as a student.

I'm not concerned about me being forced to buy hardware.
I'm concerned about future starters being forced again. Yes, empathy exists!

Although they're under no obligation to do so whatsoever, maybe by offering a further 50% discount to those who whish to trade-up their EDU/CPTK combo licences for full HD ones, they could mitigate the situation to everyone's benefit.

Considering they'll later benefit from the higher upgrade fee...

In anycase, thanks for listening.

Hey! Thank you for listening and acting upon customer feedback!

I, for sure, will upgrade my 10+CPTK combo now - as soon as the deal is made available. I'm really looking forward to start using the all new HD 11 (software).

Ps. Throw me an e-mail if you happen to plan for an upgrade path to an HD Native hardware solution for customers with a 003 and/or the HD 11 software on their hands already. That would really be the next aaawesome!

Best regards,
Marcel

Thanks for listening!

Many of us would be interested in a "one time" offer that would give some credit for the CPTK on a HD Hardware upgrade. I realize that's unprecedented but also solves the issue of unlinked HD Assets floating around the secondhand market.

Thanks for this update! Fair upgrade price and nice to hear that those of us that got CPTK / PT10 via an iLok transfer will still be able to participate.

Hi,

Once you upgrade from CPTK to HD software that's is it! From that point on you will be a HD license owner?
