My pt 10 takes about a minute and a half to close. I think my problem is that I have some out dated vst's I like to keep around. There are some other threads on this issue. Take all out dated or questionable plug ins out of your plug ins folder and put them in the unused plug ins folder, delete preferences(a few steps) re start and see if it closes correctly. If so add your plug ins one at a time to find the culpret!

Slow close down here as well.
Not sure why and I don't have any old plugs that would cause this.
Same happens when there is no session loaded.

I'm using an Mbox3 and I don't recall PT taking this long when using a third-party interface with PT10

Same here. Win 7. !0 wouldn't close unless I forced it in task manager. Now it is closing but is taking awhile and when I open it, it takes forever on "initializing databases"

I can exit out of PT 10 without a problem, but when I go to shut my computer down it hangs. I always have to manually reboot, then I can shut the computer down in the ordinary fashion. I do not have that issue with any other program. I have done the PT optimizations. I do not have any non Pro Tools plug-ins. Very annoying. It would be gratifying to find a solution.

Same here (reported in this thread http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=310911 ). I thought I had it licked when I disabled hyperthreading, but it came back almost immediately.

As to slow starting on Win7, see post 25 in this thread:

I had a session go into the 'I can't save because of errors' nonsense and when I tried to go back in the session after forcing a reboot, PT would take 10 minutes to close every time. Whether I had a session opened or not.
I trashed all prefs, made sure my user on my Win machine had read/write access to the hard drive and nothing seemed to help.
Being bent out shape I sucked it up and went back to a previous image I had from January (I am a little behind in backing up) that I new was working since it was made after a fresh install and everything was fine again.

My logic is that there is a file that PT is having issues writing to when the program closes and that is causing it to hang. This tends to happen after I get the crap with the not being able to save issue.
But not knowing which file or even where to look I rolled back to a stable image.

The insane thing is that the next time you go into PT, it loads fine. It's only on Exit that it hangs.

Sorry, wish I had a magic cure for the DUC.
