Default Trouble with Key Assign

Hi..

Does anyone have problems performing Key Assign for the built-in Compressor using the Main Surface?

I do.... I can't seems to configure the key assign channel, from other key channel.

Anyone?

Jimmy,

There is no external key available for the built-in compressor/limiter. You can only use the channel signal itself as the key input, and use the two filters to shape that signal as needed.

The built-in expander/gate does allow for an external key. You make this assignment on the screen via the menus in the Dynamics Key section.

While I agree it would be nice to have full external key support on the built-in Comp/Lim, you can easily workaround this limitation by using a compressor plug-in. Almost all compressor plug-ins have external key facilities.

Hope this helps,
-Matt

Hi Matt,

Yes, I can assign the key via the screen menues. However the manual says that you can do it on the surface, I copied the following text from the manual:

"To select the key signal for the Gate from the control surface:
1 Go to the appropriate Input Channel and target the Gate in
the ACS Dynamics section.
2 Press the Key Assign switch.
3 Press Select on the channel you want to use as the side-chain
key signal.
4 Press Key Assign again to confirm the assignment."

I couldn't make the "key assign" switch to work as decribed. The switch doesn't even light up. It seems that this switch is useless at the moment (or maybe I don't know how to do it)?

Hi Eytan,

This feature isn't implemented yet, but that's how it will most likely work in a future version of the software. Our manual writers are just a little bit ahead of the game .
