Automation slow to write

Anyone noticed how slow newer versions of ProTools writes automation.

I've been running PT12.4 for a while. The main reason has been the video problems on versions past 12.4. Those problems seem to have been resolved (I think), but another reason I haven't gone past 12.4 is the extremely slow response when I try to "Write to all enabled" with automation.

I recently installed 12.8 on another partition. Booted a session and selected all the tracks. Then selected "Write to all enabled". This took about 27 seconds with this session - it is very big with 300 audio tracks or so and lots of plug ins.

I reverted back to my partition with 12.4 on it and did the exact same thing with the exact same session. 4 seconds.

I've seen this behaviour since 12.6 I believe. I think this was the version that introduced clip based automation. Don't know if it's related or not.
I've also noticed with 12.6 and up that PT doesn't seem to write automation properly. That is if I select an area and "Write to all enabled", some parameters are not written. This is very intermittent and hard to repeat.

Anyone else seen this?
