Default Triggering Kick and Snare in PT Using midi

Can someone tell me some easy ways to trigger kick and snare from my roland keyboard into Pro Tolls 5.01. I will be recording my drums live and then looping the sections, I would then like to add a kick and snare sample on top of the live one.
thank you guys

Buy Soundreplacer from Digi. The cost of the plug will be deferred by the amount of time saved trying to do this any other way. Trust me

Soundreplacer will do it for you. It is killer.
The only other way is to create a midi track with notes corresponding to you kick and snare hits. Then use that midi track to trigger your sound module.

Well, there is also the "fun" technique of recording the sampled kick and snare samples into PT and placing them by hand... one by one.

There is one other way IF your sound module has a trigger input. I do this with a D4 and it works really well.

Take the drum track that was recoreded live and use strip silence to remove anything you don't want from the kick or snare. Keep as little of the intitial attack of the drum as you can. Send that out to the trigger in on the sound unit and record the output back into PT.

You will have to make a few timing adjustments to the original performance but it really works pretty easy and you don't have to buy new software.
Try it or send me an email and I can go into a little more detail.

Check out www.brasssail.com/mp3/irish.mp3 on these drums the kick and snare were replaced and the rest of the set is the original.

Thanks
