According to the compatibility chart on the EZ Drummer 2 page it should work.

is ezdrummer a ''V-instrument sample'' and should go on a separate drive from the OS and the recording drive? thanks

Default ez drummer 2 for PT's 10 in AAX

EZ-Drummer is a sample based virtual instrument. The standard recommendation is to install the samples on the boot/system drive (which is the default) or onto a drive dedicated for samples. The main thing there is you historically do not want them on the same drive as the audio/session files.

But all that has changed with modern fast SSD drives, particularly PCIe/NVMe drives, which are so fast you are usually better off running everything off one drives (if it will fit). Especially true of Mac computers with their great SSD drives. So what exact make/model/spec drives are you talking about?

OK so 7,200 RPM SATA drives... I'd just start with samples on the default C drive and if you run into performance issues then move them elsewhere. If you already had a ton of samples based VIs and performance issues you would have one or more dedicated sample drive(s).

If disk performance ever really becomes important you should get off SATA HDD onto SSD (SATA or PCIe).

The nice thing about EZDrummer and most Toontrack products is they load their samples into RAM on initialization or when you change drum kit or instrument selections. So although load time will be dependent on what type of storage device you have the sample sets stored on, a slower disk will not have any impact on VI performance. Providing you have adequate RAM and overhead in the address space available in PT10.
