Default Downgrade to Pro Tools 7.3

Recently, i installed windows internet explorer 7 because internet explorer 8 is not compatible with Pro Tools 8. I completely wiped Pro Tools 8 off my system and ran the Pro Tools 8 installer with internet explorer 7. The installer still froze when it arrived at the (dll) files. As a test, i ran the installer for Pro Tools 7.3 and it worked just fine. I would really like to use the newest version of Pro Tools. Could i try and install the 8.0.3 update with Pro Tools 7.3? I don't know why the installer for Pro Tools 8 always stalls. It's beginning to annoy me. Can anyone possibly help?

My system specs:

Operating system: Windows XP Professional
Audio Interface: DIGI 003

IE8 works fine with PT 8. If you have problems then do this workaround

Instructions to modify internet settings

1.Open Regedit (from Run Window enter “regedit” press OK)
2.In Regedit browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings
3.Right click on the empty space in the right hand side of Registry Editor window and choose New > DWORD Value
4.Name the DWORD AllowCookies and press enter
5.Double click on the AllowCookies DWORD and enter 1 in the Value Data field then press OK
6.Launch Pro Tools

No, you need to have 8 - actually 8.0.1 in order to install 8.0.3 I believe. Have you ever gotten 8 to install? Are you installing from DVD and if so, do you get any error messages? Sounds like it could be a bad DVD as there are many in circulation.

I'm leaning towards the bad DVD scenario also. Theres nothing with IE8 or any other version that would cause a problem installing PTLE. I would try copying the installer to your desktop and run it from there or download the installer from your My Digi/My Avid account.

You need to install 8.0 that 8.0.1 then 8.0.3cs2
