Default Should I disable HyperThreading for PT 2018/PC

Need advice. Have PT 2018.4 16 gig Ram, newer i7 chip
PC, Windows 10. Getting CPU errors for first time, with minimal plugins and only audio loops. very little CPU use on screen. (15%). I optimized many other things recommended on Avid optimize page. If recommended, do I just get into PCs, BIOS and disable HyperThreading?
Would appreciate community opinions.
Thanks
Steve K

I believe it's a must on PC...

On Mac it's a try and see what works best...

Emi,
Thanks. Any particular advice. I’m new to digital world.
Old analog dog. I have a Lenovo laptop.
I7 chip, 16 RAM. New PC. 256 SSD, 2 TB additional internal. Sessions and most libraries on external HD. PT on SSD. Was cruising along.
Since everything I read says disable HyperThreading, just seems like it can’t hurt. Any risks?
Do you know what settings to drill down to, after I find function key for entering my Setup/bios.
Thx in advance!

I'm on Mac, don't know much about Windows these days, so I'll let someone else with more experience to chime in.

You need to try it and see. Each system tends t be a little bit unique, so what works best for one, might not be best for another. On my rig(HP Z820 workstation), I turned it off, but then I ran the HP Optimizer software(as recommended by Avid for this specific computer) and that turned it back on. Since the system runs quite nicely, I just roll with it

When I was having lots of errors on my previous rig, I narrowed it down to 2 specific plugins; Melodyne and iZotope Ozone. Both would cause errors at a low buffer. Adjust buffer to 1024 and most of the errors went away(so those plugins don't get used until its time to mix).

Dave(that’s what most people call you, right?),
Thanks much. I’ve been down with a bug, but should be able to see
what’s what in a few days. Frankly, I’d rather avoid trashing preferences.
Did the other recommended optimizations, so I’ll see how they do.
Btw. Did you ever try that pro Tools First x. Bat script that stuff mean be made and posted. It automatically mates turning off 2 cores when using Pro Tools.
I could probably find the citation and link.
I’m not sure if it helps, but the theory is sound.
Easy to use.Safe. You just install it into system each the me you load up PT.
Thanks again. I think it’s called from fixPT.bat or PTfix.bat

It's recommended to trash preferences when you see the system acting fishy. First thing I do, actually I have an alarm on every Monday to do so.
