Default Mac pro PT 11 HDX Not seeing card [resolved]

Hi,

Helping set up for a friend.

New 8 core
OSX.10
32 mb RAM
Magma express 3T
PT 11.3

System was running fine on Mac Mini with PT 10 on Mavericks.

Mistake made:
Friend "did right thing" and transferred data between two machines using Migration Assistant.

Unfortunately, copied PT 10 over with it.

ProTools 11 launched fine, but didn't see HDX card and interfaces.
(Avid 16x16 and 192)

We read through and followed the advice on another thread with no luck...
Manually uninstalled PT10
Re-installed PT 11.

PT still loads right up but does not offer the HDX card/interfaces.

Any other things to try?

Thanks again.

B

Install the HD Driver.

And of course he has an HD asset on the iLok right?

Thanks for the look Drew.
You are very helpful on these threads.

We did install the driver last night, but it may have been the incorrect one....so I'll have him try it again with your link.

Yes Sir....
Has HD asset on iLock.
The system was up for a year on a Mini with the same setup.

If he's got the time, might be best to punt and start over?

Download and install PT update 11.3.1. That should do the trick.

If he migration assassinated the system, and got Pro Tools 10 brought across, what other apps, wrong drivers, other crap, also got brought over? Do the right thing now and smack him on the head and then do a full clean OS X install and start over. It is just not worth risking future problems, do it right now.

Well Darryl,
I am tending to agree with your assessment of the situation....except of course, the smacking him in the head.
E-smacks can be an effective tool...
Real life smacks always end up differently than you had hoped...
Especially when they smack you back.

I had to leave last night, but will try to talk him through an OS re-install over the phone.
If I end up driving back over there, I may very well re-visit the smack suggestion.

I'll let you know what happens and thanks.

The secret is the timing. And smiling politely while you are doing it. Then carefully explaining (while they are still stunned) why it was for their own good...

Hi,

Just did a clean install of Yosemite. 10.10.2
Protools 11.3.1.
Single HDX in a Magma chassis.

Still not seeing HDX or interfaces.

Any ideas?

Man, doesn't make much sense at all.

Have you tried different TB ports? I know there are 6, but I think only 2 TB busses.

Can you try this config on another computer easily?
