I'm running PT 2018.4 on a fully-patched iMac Pro OSX 10.13.4 - no HD hardware. Runs fine fwiw.

Same setups here and works awesome. No issues but we only use our two trashcans for audio nothing else.

At that point I’m already running a 6 month old version, and that makes no sense, subscribing for a new year.

Actually did renew for another year, just not to get penalised at the point the software will work again

Running all Avid hardware, with a qualified Mac, exactly the way I’ve been rolling for 20 years now with PT’s, I do that to not have issues.

So I spent all my spare time outside my normal working day for 9 days to uncover a bug, that Avid CS’s flagged up as ‘Critical’ having replicated my issue on the very machine used for qualification.

I don’t have time in my day to be a beta tester.. and these issues should’ve never got past that stage. clearly the Beta team do not represent the PT’s population, and that clearly needs to be revamped.

This is my opinion as a active subscriber, and therefore feel Im paying for this process, I now need to see the result!

You have my money Avid, ..tell me the good news, or refund me.
Exactly.

Same here expect I use my trashcan for both audio and midi/virtual instruments. I must say I have had a few issues along the way but it was either a plugin issue or a Mac issue. Once I figured out what was causing the problems all has been good.

Is the latest version of 2018 playing nice with high sierra? I've literally been plagued with lagging graphics since right after yosemite which is why I've stayed there.

Also running great on my 2017 MBP. But I run relatively simple sessions and stick mostly with Avid plugins and Superior Drummer VI. For my own use It seems Pro Tools stability has improved over the last year or so, better than a few years back.

Interesting. Didn't think of that. Can you elaborate on how?

That’s key!! I always evaluate the performance of every new plugin, if I see it affects the stability than out it goes. I don’t rely on plugins to do the job, I mean, I can mix perfectly with stock plugins and a bunch of outboard reverbs and compressors, but I do know I need pro tools to run stable as a rock. And it delivers.

Run the new plug-in in every track type with other plug-ins you regularly use.

Watch the CPU monitor for usage and spikes.

Note any errors that may appear.

Notice general responsiveness of the GUI.

Basically, be sure it plays nicely within the sessions that mimic your typical workflow.

Do this with only one new plug-in at a time. I usually will know within the first hour if I will choose to retain or remove it.

When you notice certain combinations causing issues, you will sometimes have to make tough choices or live with an unstable rig. There are times when just not using it in the session will be enough to solve the issue, other times it must be removed from the Plugins folder completely.

Note: I have removed rather expensive plug-ins from the folder for the sake of a smooth running Pro Tools. I'm now much more cautious about what I allow in.

And, constantly watch for updates. Old code can wreak havoc.

Intermittent lag when offline bouncing a midi track.
Also artifacts on sustaining instruments (wow and flutter) after changing the tempo +1 bpm using elastic audio (polyphonic).
