Default PT9 and Me. Love to hear from DTS here!

Hi Guys,

Well... It's been a while since I was here... Basically I've been living in REAPER land for the last year and loving it! For the first time since I've actually looked back...

I'll start by saying I must applaud you AVID. You have FINALLY listened to your customers and are delivering!!! Well done!

So here is my question/situation...

I now own a Prism Audio Orpheus which runs via ASIO.
I also own an MBox2 and PT8 LE.
I am interested in Pro Tools 9.

Will I be able to purchase PT9 HD and use it with my orpheus?
Will I have to purchase any AVID hardware to use 9 HD?
Can I upgrade my PT8 LE to PT9 HD?

Cheers and goodluck for the future!

Jo

No. You should, however, be able to use PT9 with it.

To use PT 9 HD? Yes. To use PT 9? No.

No, but you can upgrade to PT 9.

Pro Tools 9 is one single software product. There are 3 levels of "unlock";
  1. Pro Tools 9
  2. Pro Tools 9 with Complete Production Toolkit
  3. Pro Tools 9 HD

To get HD, you need HD hardware.

Look at the Feature Comparison.

Jo

To purchase PT9 HD you must have TDM hardware. You can however purchase Vanilla pro Tools and the CPTK and have all of the benefits of HD minus the hardware and of course TDM plug-ins.

EDIT: Oops SPK types faster

Cheers for the fast responses guys!

I think I'll be sticking to REAPER, at least for now... It is so stable and efficient I don't know if I want to come back to Pro Tools land just yet...

Lets see what REAPER 4 brings to the table.

I just find hilarious that somebody would stick with Reaper 3 over ProTools 9!

I am VERY bothered that Avid has not addressed the ver.8 driver issues.
