Not a valid audio volumn
I recently upgraded from an imac G4 to a dual 2.5 G5. I'm using OS 10.4.2 and Protools 7.0. When I try to launch a session I'm told that the drive is not a valid audio volume and that I need to go to the workspace and check "r" for the drive that I want to use. The workspace shows only the mac hard drive (it's the only drive)...and when I try to change it's designation from "t" to "r" I'm again told that the drive is not a valid audio volume. So, I'm unable to load or start any sessions.
I've been told I need to reformat my hard drive and reinstall EVERYTHING that's on it. I'm unclear as to the exact steps required...and while I have the disc for 6.9, the upgrade to 7.0 was a free download and I do NOT have a hard copy of that. Finally, in preferences for sound, ProTools isn't even listed as an option. I would certainly appreciate any assistance. Thanks, Chris |

Re: Not a valid audio volumn
highlight the drive on your desktop, then hold APPLE+I then set the drive to "read and write".
Now you can go to the digi menu and set that T to an R. Good day. |

Thanks. I'll give it a shot.

Re: Not a valid audio volumn
Hmmmm. No good. The drive was already set to "read & write". Any other thoughts?

Re: Not a valid audio volumn
How is the drive formatted (Unix, Mac OS Extended, etc.)?
Have you tried repairing permissions yet? If that doesn't work, you may want to try the steps in the OS X Setup and General Troubleshooting thread, specifically those on trashing prefs and databases. |
