Default Fast Track + Pro Tools 10
I'm looking into getting a Fast Track Ultra 8R with Pro Tools, but it comes with SE and not 10. I also notice that SE is not eligible for a crossgrade/upgrade to 10..
Would I be better off to just get Pro Tools on its own and purchase the Fast Track without SE since I have to pay full price anyways?

You definitely don't want SE. There are deals for Pro Tools 10 on eBay. I would look into other interfaces as well.

Have to agree^^^ I would look at the Focusrite Pro40(for one option anyway)

I just need something simple and affordable and the Fast Track fits my needs, I read that the Pro 40 doesn't work with Pro Tools though.

Pro Tools 10 will work with any interface. You either are not remembering correctly or you were reading about a version of P Tools that was prior to 9.
