Most likely your new computer is running Windows XP Service Pack 2? (You're not giving alot of details here, so I've got to guess...)
The first version of Pro Tools that was compatible with XP SP2 is 6.4cs9. You will need to upgrade.

ONLY 7x will run with multiple cores. For an 001 YOU MUST:

Have 6.4 AND cs6 AND cs9 AND the latest PACE drivers, PLUS, you MUST disable one core on a duo core machine as 6.4 will not use both cores and will give you grief - as you found out - if you try to use both cores.

Cheers,

Yeah, multiple core processors need PT 7.x, which does not support the 001. Welcome to obselecence.

Man, I appreciate all this help but I need a little help w/ the lingo. What is cs6 and cs9 and where do I get the latest PACE drivers?

Also when my CPU starts up, among all of the info on the black screen, it says something about RAID. I heard that Pro Tools isnt compatible with RAID tech, even though Im not sure what it is.
