Any GOOD news RE: New G5/HD Exp?

Hey everyone!

I'm about to plunge for a new G5, HD expansion, and 2 more cards. Currently on a Dual G4 with Core, 1 Accel, and 2 Process.

The errors I'm seeing posted are making me a bit afraid. I'll still have my G4 to back me up, but I'm about to lay out a bunch of coin for something that seems a little troublesome right now. I'm daily pushing my current rig to the limits, so this upgrade is necessary. Any advice? Should I go Old G5 and Old Expansion, or can anyone with a 6 card system report smooth sailing? If so, what are your system details?

If u setup new system for mixing is great.. the new chassis HD give u 96tracks @96K with only 4 chips, tons of power to work with. also with PT7 feature. but for tracking, overdubbing.. its really bothering u daily basis. check out the DAE -1150 thread and audio out of syn thread..

Thanks! I've read the -1150 thread and the sync issue thread - that's what has me worried. I'm mixing 90% of the time, but when I do need to do an overdub, like you said in one of the other threads (i think it was you!) I'm working with bands off the street for beer money - these clients are paying me well for a quick and painless job! Just don't want to open a can of worms, but for mixing, I'm sure the benefits will put a huge smile on my face!!!

I wouldn't get the old chassis unless you really need to run PCI cards other that Digidesign DSP. The new chassis has many advatages and has lots of headroom for future advances because of it's onboard computer.
