That's what worries me too. I haven't got high hopes for anything more than what's mentioned in the blogpost though.

They're probably trying to make me upgrade to Ultimate. And I probably will, and I probably will cry the rest of my life wrapped around AVIDs fingers. But hey, who cares now that they're finally a part of the Netflix Post Production Alliance. Ehm.

I know a lot of Vanilla users who will like the new Video Engine though, unfortunately I will probably not benefit much from it since I don't use it.

It would be a very simple thing for them to miss the October release and change the name to 2019.11. Or 2019.12. Or 2020.8. We've been through this many times.

I understand Avid to develop its systems and business-like configurations, but I do not understand that the company is not moving forward in simpler creative functions, but that is missing in PT, both Ultimate and Vanilla (I do not list them not, it is widely elsewhere for a long time). It would not hurt anything and is not so difficult. Meanwhile, Vanilla users have to pay, especially for two years, for functions that do not concern them. Very difficult to be ordinary Avid customer.

The release schedule Avid uses and the fact that 2019.6 is stable for here leads me to consider using the $399 renewal for my WUP or a new set of plugins or VI altogether (I just got Omnisphere and there's a bunch I can add there). I'm not looking for bug fixes because I haven't noticed a bug, but I do appreciate added features because even if I don't currently need a particular feature, it adds value to what I have. I'm not a hoarder, but when it comes to electronics and audio I keep pretty much everything and you can not imagine how many times that fact saves my ass. If a customer asks me for something I do my damnedest to deliver it if I can. I may not need ATMOS capability in my Ultimate software at this moment because I'm a record stereo kinda guy, but I do have a nice Denon/B&W/Yamaha (ceiling mount 2-ways) ATMOS set-up in my living room and since I usually mix solo and deliver MP3 or BWF for approval I could make that work. You want my money you need to give me more value in addition to bug-fixes and plugins I can rent for $50/yr. I've got Cubase Pro 9.5 here for compatibility, $99 to upgrade and if forced I can make that my main platform, but I still own separate licenses for HD8 and Ultimate. YMMV!

Looks like no mention of Catalina compatibility for this update. Well the waiting continues...and continues...

So what, we might be looking at 3 updates a year if we're lucky..spring, summer, and fall..
They were hardly going to be Catalina ready this one..that will be the long awaited Summer update..

Waves 11 is in (fyi)for OS 10.15

Inbound maybe, but as people in, time as tech.
A bit more scheduled could stem the scream.

With one feature (that other DAWs have had) that musicians and composers might find useful every year. If we are lucky.

That's what $399/year gets ya.
