Default Recording Piano but Sustain Pedal not being recorded

Hi, I am trying to record a piano track using my Yamaha WK 225 keyboard in MIDI mode. I can make a recording but for some reason my sustain pedal, which is plugged into the Yamaha keyboard via 1/4 jack, isn't being picked up in the recording at all. Is there a plug-in or something for a sustain pedal? How can I record keys with sustain effect? I am currently using Pro Tools 11 Trial and will be upgrading to PT 12 soon. Many thanks for any help you can provide! Rock On!

Yamaha WK 225 ? You mean Casio WK-225?

MIDI is MIDI, wether over USB or legacy 5 PIN DIN wiring. The wiring won't make a difference here.

Does the sustain pedal work on the keyboard playing locally? If not what brand/model pedal is it?

Have you looked through the user keyboard documentation at MIDI and sustain pedal configuration settings?

What VI are you using? What is showing in the sustain pedal MIDI track? Are the note on/off stretched with sustain being held on?

I am not even sure this keyboard sends sustain out vs. note/start stop. The documentation, a MIDI sniffer/monitor utility will tell you for sure.

Sustain pedal does work fine with the keyboard and I hear the sustain is active while I am playing and recording. However, there is no sustain when track is played back so, it must not have got recorded at all. Yes, sorry, it is Casio not Yamaha. Sustain pedal is a BOSS FS-6.

You asked "What VI are you using?"

Did you mean DI?

System specs:
Dell Desktop
Windows 10
PT11 Trial, upgrading to 12 soon.
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
Yamaha HS5 monitors
Casio WK 225 Keyboard

MIDI Merge: Google or the Pro Tools Reference Guide (searchable PDF already on your computer) can explain all you need. Please try to spend some time helping yourself here.

I don't follow how MIDI Merge is related to your problem, I just hate to think you are unable to find how to use a Pro Tools feature.
