Default tempo-synced NI plugins (e.g. Rounds) don't adjust for session latency. other plugs (

Native Instruments plugs w/ built-in rhythmic sequences (Rounds, certain other Reaktor-hosted instruments, certain Absynth patches, etc) do not properly adjust for overall session latency from plugins.

sometimes it's simply globally out of sync, i can print it to audio and nudge it back. other times the whole rhythm is out of whack.

sometimes the instrument will start right where the MIDI starts. other times it starts a beat late.

currently running PT HD 12.5 on OS X 10.10.5, but i've seen the same behavior on other rigs.

anyone run into this? any solutions? thanks....

Sadly yes, with Maschine mostly (also other non NI plus e.g. nerve). Try first without delay comp on the whole session, see what results you are getting. Where that's not possible In a bigger session with delay comp I sometimes disable that instrument channel's delay comp, or plugin delay (see which works for you). Other factors that influence timing are bussing to AUX tracks where other plugs aimed at same bus can effect timing, and odd plugins like Autotune Live and Stutter Edit doing strange delay compensation things when in the session.

I've found VI's timing and Pro Tools to be always a floating target, there's no certainty until you print. and even then.....

I am experiencing issues with Maschine hosting EZ Drummer. Sometimes it seems fine, and other times I hear flamming with itself (no other tracks in the session and there are not multiple MIDI events playing simultaneously).

My workaround is to not use any plugins with delay and to leave delay compensation off while tracking.
